Hynix’s New Memory Chips Receive Intel Validation
Hynix Semiconductor, the world’s second largest chip maker, said Friday its new memory chips have won validation from U.S. chip giant Intel.
Hynix said its two-gigabit DDR3 DRAM chips based on the 40-nanometer class technology have been validated under the Intel validation program to offer manufacturers of finished products more performance memory options.
DDR3 DRAM is a random access memory technology used for high bandwidth storage of working data on a computer or other digital electronic devices.
Starting this month, Hynix began to massproduce the new power-efficient memory chips using 44-nanometer technology, which reduces power consumption by 40 percent and increases productivity by 60 percent compared to the 50-nanometer class technology.
