Samsung Unveils its First Android phone for Korean Market
Samsung Electronics unveiled its first Android-based smartphone(model SHW-M100S) for the local market, which is scheduled to release next month through SK Telecom at the media day held in Seoul on Thursday.
Until now, all the smartphones released by Samsung in the local market adopted Microsoft’s Windows Mobile, including the BlackJack series and Omnia series.
The SHW-M100S has a 3.7-inch AMOLED display and a 5-megapixel camera module. Other features include T-DMB, GPS, Bluetooth, 802.11n Wi-Fi, and video calling. The smartphone is based on the 2.1 version of the Android operating system.
In the European and U.S. market, Samsung has introduced four types of Google-backed smartphones, such as the Galaxy, Galaxy Spica, Moment and Behold2.
