LG Releases OPhone-based GW880 in China
LG Electronics announced it has released in the China market its new smartphone, LG GW880, which adopted China Mobile’s OPhone software, powered by the Google-backed Android operating system.
The GW880 has a 3.5-inch touch-screen with 800 x 480 resolution, and is designed to support the TD-SCDMA network, China’s own 3G standard.
The company’s second Android-based smartphone following the LG GW620 has a 5-megapixel camera module and Bluetooth connectivity along with GPS. The GW880 offers a mobile TV function with a CMMB (China Multi Media Broadcasting) TV tuner.
On the phone’s primary navigation screen, users are able to list up to 24 application icons, allowing users to access any application without having to move across to other screen views, LG said. Through the App Store run by China Mobile, users are able to download a diverse variety of applications for almost any need, the company said.
