Samsung enters U.S. Android market with Moment and Behold II
Samsung Electronics said it will offer its commercial Android platform-based smartphone, called “Moment” for the U.S. market through Sprint. It will be available next month. In addition, its second Android phone for U.S. customers, “Behold II,” will be available by the end of this year through T-Mobile.
Before entering the U.S. Android phone market, Samsung debuted its first Android smartphone (model I7500), called “Galaxy,” in the European market last June, and the company plans to release another Android phone for Europe, its “Galaxy Spica” (also known as Galaxy Lite), later this year.
Both Android smartphones for the U.S. market have a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen with 16M colors. The Moment has a 3-megapixel camera module and supports cdma2000 1x EV-DO Rev. A networking, while the Behold II designed for HSDPA network, and has a 5-megapixel camera module.
Samsung’s Android smartphones offer a suite of Google services, including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, and YouTube.
Meanwhile, Samsung also unveiled a new Windows Phone (a.k.a. Windows Mobile 6.5), which it has named “Intrepid,” for the U.S. market.
