SK Telecom, KT, among world’s 50 most valuable telecom brands
Two South Korean telecom companies have been named among the 50 most expensive telecom brands in the world, according to an industry report made available here Friday.
The brand value of SK Telecom, South Korea’s leading mobile carrier, ranked 24th in the world with US$2.14 billion this year, up from $1.77 billion a year ago, according to Brand Finance, a global consulting firm.
KT, South Korea’s dominant fixed-line operator and No. 2 mobile carrier, came at 34th with $1.55 billion, the London-based consultancy said.
Britain’s Vodafone ranked first with $24.65 billion, trailed by AT&T and Verizon of the United States with $19.85 billion and $18.85 billion, respectively, Hong Kong’s China Mobile with $17.2 billion and France’s Orange with $16.8 billion.
