SK Telecom, SK C&C to provide consulting services for Reliance in India
SK Telecom and its affiliate SK C&C said Wednesday that they are set to provide consulting services for mobile network management and operations in India.
The two companies said they recently signed a deal worth US$1.4 million with India’s second-largest mobile carrier Reliance Communications to provide the company with strategic consulting on transferring to third-generation telecommunications technology.
According to the deal, SK Telecom and SK C&C will design, analyze and build a route to a third-generation mobile network for Reliance Communications, which has one billion subscribers.
India has four billion mobile phone users and the Indian government is scheduled to auction out mobile communications frequencies to second-generation mobile carriers.
On the third-generation network, India’s mobile phone users will be able to use services such as video calling, mobile banking and mobile Internet, the companies said.
