DoCoMo Selects Korean Venture Company’s Bluetooth Speaker
Korean venture company Vanns Tech said it has been selected by NTT DoCoMo as a provider of portable UFO Bluetooth speakers.
The UFO, a Bluetooth flat-panel loudspeaker, marks the first model that Vanns Tech has supplied to a mobile operator, said company CEO Sang-Yun Ban. DoCoMo initially bought 30,000 units of the UFO as gift items, but has now decided to sell the Bluetooth speakers to customers. The first shipment will be for 10,000 units, each priced at more than 100,000 won, Ban said.
The mobile phone accessories market is more revved up in Japan, so mobile operators in Korea are very interested in boosting service, the company said. Mobile operators hope to offset the rapidly declining price of mobile phones with accessories.
Hoping to expand exports of the UFO speaker, Vanns Tech is talking with other mobile operators, including Deutsch Telecom in Germany and SingTel in Singapore, the company’s CEO said.
